Customer Vehicle Build Submission: Mk7.5 Facelift Golf GTI

Vehicle Overview: This stunning Mk7.5 facelift Golf GTI has been meticulously upgraded with an APR Stage 3 map, transforming it into a high-performance machine. The Stage 3 upgrade includes a larger IS38 Golf R turbo, a cold air carbon intake with larger elbow pipes, and a MODE 3” downpipe paired with a catback exhaust system featuring a larger diameter pipe. The goal was to create a clean, subtle street car that echoes the 400GTI concept.

Inspiration: 400GTI Concept The 400GTI concept draws inspiration from Volkswagen’s Golf “R400” Mk7 project, which was introduced in 2015 but later cancelled due to the diesel-gate scandal. The “400” in 400GTI refers to the engine’s output of 400BHP, mirroring the naming convention of the R400 by VW. APR, the tuning company behind the Stage 3 map, claims that with an Octane 98 setup, their Stage 3 file can produce 396BHP with the supporting modifications, closely matching the R400’s performance.

Recent Upgrades: To further enhance performance and reduce weight, a titanium exhaust mid-pipe has been added. Ongoing efforts to reduce unsprung weight include the installation of 2-piece rotors with monoblock calipers, forged rims, and alloy lower control arms.
