Since June 2020, BMW has implemented updated bootloaders in their DMEs, making conventional flash tuning impossible. FEMTO provides the solution with their mail-in FEMTO DME Unlock service, ensuring your DME is unlocked and ready for OBD flash tuning.
How It Works:
- Purchase the MODE x FEMTO DME Unlock to suit your model and options from the MODE Store which includes international shipping to and from your address of choice.
- Purchase the MODE x bm3 Ultimate Tuning Bundle or bm3 License to suit your vehicle.
- Complete the MODE x FEMTO DME Unlock Form. Click Here to Download
- Remove your DME and prepare for shipping to MODE or FEMTO.
- We will dispatch your DME to FEMTO in Finland for unlocking or send you labels to attach to your DME for direct shipping to FEMTO.
- Expect a turnaround time of 10-15 business days for the unlocking process.
- Your unlocked DME will be returned to you, tested, and ready for installation.
- Reinstall your DME, ensure everything functions properly, and flash your vehicle using your preferred tuning platform such as MODE x bm3 Ultimate Tuning Bundle.

Important Details:
- Tuning licenses for BM3, MHD Tuning, or MG Flasher are not included.
- Ensure your BM3 license and VIN are activated before sending your DME.
- Disable OTA (Over The Air) BMW, etc. Remote Software Updates in iDrive and on BMW "My BMW" app to prevent accidental tune removal.
